OELWEIN - Funeral services for Sheila K. Stasi, lifelong Oelwein resident, will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 17, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oelwein with the Rev. Frederick Fangmann officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein. Friends may call from 2 until 8 p. m. today (Wednesday) at the Hintz-Geilenfeld Funeral Home, Oelwein, where there will be a scripture service at 7:30 p.m.
Mrs. Stasi, 67, died Monday, July 14, 1997, at University Hospitals in Iowa City, after a lengthy illness.
She was born Aug. 11, 1929, in Oelwein, the, daughter of Cornelius J. ‘Ike’ and Helen E. (Byrne) O'Brien. Following graduation from Oelwein High School in 1947, she worked for a time in the classified department at the Oelwein Daily Register. On Nov. 6, 1952, she married Peter S. Stasi in Oelwein. Mrs. Stasi was a homemaker and mother. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, Pete; two daughters, Debra (Shane) McGurk of Longmont, Colo., and Dena (Milton) Gradwell of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Dan of Galesburg, Ill., and Joe of Waterloo; five grandchildren; one sister, Colleen (Lou) Stasi, and one brother, Dr.John (Darlene) O'Brien, both of Oelwein.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Michael O'Brien; and one sister, Connie O'Brien.
A memorial fund has been established.
