HOT SRINGS, S.D. - Memorial services for Michael B. O’Brien, formerly of Oelwein, will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9 until 11 a.m. at the Hintz-Geilenfeld Funeral Home, Oelwein, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 until 11 a.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. 0' Brien, 57, died at his home in Hot Springs, Saturday, Jan. 4, 1997, after a lengthy illness.
He was born Dec. 10, 1939, in Oelwein, the son of Cornelius J. and Helen E. (Byrne) O'Brien. He graduated from Holy Family High School, Mason City, in 1957 and attended Mason City Junior College before making his career with the U.S. Army. He was a member of American Legion Post #71 in Hot Springs and retired from the Army.
Survivors include two sisters, Sheila (Pete) Stasi and Colleen (Lou) Stasi, both of Oelwein; one brother Dr. John (Darlene) O'Brien of Oelwein; special friends Debbie Jensen and family and Jack Christosfesen; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Connie. A memorial fund has been established.
