H. Wing Wachtel
OELWEIN - H. Wing Wachtel, 69, of Oelwein, and of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., died suddenly at home in Oelwein Saturday morning, June 28, 1997. A private family memorial service was held in Oelwein and a memorial service will be held at a later date in Lake Havasu City. Inurnment will be in Lake Havasu City Memorial Gardens. The Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, is handling the arrangements.
Mr. Wachtel was born Aug. 17, 1927, in Oelwein, the son of Harry Wing Wachtel, Sr., and Mabel Ione (Trower) Wachtel. He graduated from Oelwein High School and received a law degree from Drake University in Des Moines. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy. He married Eleanor M. Hoag on Sept. 22, 1950 in Des Moines. She died Aug. 12, 1995. He married Shirley Lindstrom Keniston, on Nov. 4, 1995 in Oelwein. He was a partner in the law firm of Wachtel-Biehn-Malm Law Office in Lake Havasu City, retiring in 1995.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Oelwein; one son, Andy Wachtel of Lake. Havasu City; three daughters, Sue Wachtel of Newport Beach, Calif., Jane Woodard of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Jill Davis of Lake Havasu City; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; and one sister.
