CEDAR RAPIDS -Leonard J. Baker, 54, Cedar Rapids, formerly of Oelwein, died Saturday, July 5, at his home after a long illness. Memorial services will be Tuesday, July 8, at 6 p .m. at Lifeline Church, 800 G Ave., N.W. in Cedar Rapids. There will be no viewing.
Survivors include his wife, Laura; stepchildren, Deanna, Maria, Bob, Paul, Mark, Laura and Lisa, all of Cedar Rapids; his mother, Alberta Heitland and stepfather, Forest, Oelwein; brothers, Charles (Susan) Alliance, Neb.; Steven (Pat) Livingston, Mont.; sisters, Karen (Rob) Szemkus, Fayette; Kathy (Matt) Gordish, Oelwein; Diane (Matt) McCann, Hazleton; and Karla (Chris) Vandersee, Weatherford, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his father, James, in 1982.
He was born Aug. 3, 1942, the son of James and Alberta Baker. He was a 1961 graduate of Oelwein High School. During the Vietnam War, he served with the United States Marine Corps.
