OELWEIN - Private graveside services for Roy W. Vanselow were held Monday, Dec. 8 in Woodlawn Cemetery, with the Rev. Alan Wolkenhauer officiating. The Hintz-Geilenfeld Funeral Home, Oelwein, was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Vanselow, 78, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 1997, at Mercy Living Plus, Oelwein, after a lengthy illness.
He was born Aug. 7, 1919, in Oelwein, the son of Frederick and Sadie (Ward) Vanselow. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. On Dec. 15, 1942, he married Barbara Coselman in Independence. Mr. Vanselow was a retired railroad engineer.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; two daughters, Sandy (Jim) Seedorff and Sharon (Ron) Leckner; one son, Steven (Sue) Vanselow; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son; two sisters; and one brother.
