OELWEIN - Funeral services for Marjorie Mae Simpson will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26, at Grace United Methodist Church, Oelwein, with the Rev. Robert Dagit officiating. Burial will be in Long Grove Cemetery, Maynard. Friends may call from 3 until 8 p.m. Sunday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, and after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church.
Mrs. Simpson, 85, died Thursday morning, Jan. 22, 1998, at Oelwein Health Care Center after a lengthy illness.
She was born Nov. 20, 1912, in Oelwein, the daughter of Arthur and Hazel (Ware) Fauser. She married Oscar Simpson on Nov. 8, 1930, in Fayette. The couple lived at rural Lamont from 1950 to 1986. He died June 2, 1986. Mrs. Simpson then moved to Oelwein. She worked many years in the laundry service department of the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, TOPS, Covenant Group, and a former member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include three sons, Hugh (Dorothy) of Oklahoma City, Okla., Larry (Marsha) of Cedar Rapids, and Steve (Cherri) of Mesa, Ariz.; five daughters, Betty Simpson of Marion, Joan Simpson Radloff of North Liberty, Sheryl (Keith) McCallum, Jackie (Jack) Sovia, and Penny Meier, all of Mesa, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great–great-grandson; three brothers, Ernie; Grover and Duane Fauser, all of Waterloo; and three sisters, Arlene Robinson, Jean (Merle) Smith, and Pat (Virgil) McClain, all of Oelwein.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oscar; one son, Jackie Duane; and two brothers, Max and Arthur Fauser.
Memorials may be made in her name to Grace United Methodist Church, 9 First Street NE, Oelwein.
