OELWEIN - Funeral services for Henry Edwin Maurer were held Wednesday, Sept. 3, at the Hintz-Geilenfeld Funeral Home, Oelwein. Burial was in Chester Hills Cemetery, rural Chester. There was no visitation.
Mr. Maurer, 86, died Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 28, 1997, at Oelwein Health Care Center.
He was born Jan. 25, 1911, in Lime Springs, the son of David and Margaret (Dotzler) Maurer. He grew up in the Lime Springs area and was a Howard County maintenance worker in Cresco prior to retirement. In 1985, he moved to Oelwein to live with his sister, Leone King. He had been a resident of Oelwein Health Care Center since 1987.
Survivors include a brother-in-law, Clarence Herzeelle of New Hampton, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and seven sisters, Abby Baker, Leone King, Stella Carolan, Irene Herzeelle, Edna Roepke, Gladys Gage and one sister in infancy.
Memorials may be made in his name to Oelwein Health Care Center.
