OELWEIN - Funeral services for Leo Edward Nacke will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Peace Lutheran Church, Oelwein. Burial will be in Union Mound Cemetery, Sumner. Friends may call from 2 until 8 p.m. Friday at the Hintz-Geilenfeld Funeral Home, Oelwein, and one hour before services at the church Saturday.
Mr. Nacke, 80, died Thursday morning, Aug. 7, 1997, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, after a brief illness.
He was born Aug. 24, 1916, in Sumner, the son of Henry and Clara (Dienst) Nacke. He served in the European Theatre during World War II, from 1943 to 1946. He married Eileen Fridley on April 17, 1946, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sumner. Mr. Nacke was a retired Sumner area farmer. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and Thomas E. Woods American Legion Post 223 in Sumner.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen; two daughters, Mary (David) Keppler of Lamont, and Donna (James) Allen of Polk City; one son, Marvin of Oelwein; a foster sister, Shirley Kueker of Waterloo; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Melba Rowley; and a foster brother,Cletus Goodenbour.
