DES MOINES - Memorial services for Janet Herron of St. Louis, Mo., and formerly of Des Moines, will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at Dunn's Funeral Home, Des Moines, with the Rev. Martha Hendricks of Plymouth Congregational Church officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery in Des Moines.
Mrs. Herron, 81, died of heart failure Monday, Sept. 29, 1997, in St. Louis.
She was born in Oelwein, the daughter of John "Hardy" and Minnie Jane (Brown) Shaw. She married Donald W. Herron, Aug. 12, 1938. The couple moved to Des Moines. Mrs. Herron taught in the Des Moines public schools, retiring in the late 1950s. Mr. Herron died Aug. 23, 1981, and she continued to live in Des Moines until one year ago when she moved to St. Louis. She was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church, PEO Chapter MA, and Waveland Park Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include three sons, John of Raleigh, N.C., Greg and Keith, both of St. Louis, Mo.; one sister, Edith Gerstenberger of Oelwein; one brother, Donald Shaw of Davenport; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Donald.
