FARIBAULT, Minn. - Funeral services for Rosella Lonien of Faribault, and formerly of Oelwein, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 19, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Faribault, with the Rev. David Kohner officiating. Burial will be held 3 p.m. Friday, June 20, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein.
Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault, where there will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Friends may also call for one hour prior to services at the church Thursday.
Mrs. Lonien, 89, died Sunday, June 15, 1997, at the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Faribault.
She was born July 4, 1907, in Richland Township, Rice County, Minn., the daughter of Ludwig and Armena (Logghe) Davidson. She married George Lonien on June 22, 1927, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault. He preceded her in death Sept. 29, 1957.
The couple lived in several different towns because her husband managed National Five & Dime Stores. They moved to Oelwein in 1930. While in Oelwein, they owned and operated the Iowa Portable Mill Company until 1957. Mrs. Lonien returned to Faribault Aug. 31, 1961. She was a homemaker most of her life and was involved in the V.F.W. Auxiliary and the Legion of Mary, both in Oelwein. She also had been active in different groups at Sacred Heart Church in Faribault.
Survivors include two children, Dorothy (Robert) Elkins of Long Beach, Calif., and George P. (Barbara) Lonien of Warsaw, Minn.; two sisters, Ruth E. Reusch of St. Paul, Minn., and Emily M. Furr of Cedar Rapids; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; three brothers, Louis A., Edward C., and Harold A. Davidson; and two sisters, Florence M. Meder and Caroline Davidson.
