OELWEIN - Funeral services for Christopher Michael Adams were held 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 8, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oelwein, with the Rev. Frederick Fangmann officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein.
The Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, was in charge of arrangements where a parish scripture service was held during visitation Sunday.
Mr. Adams, 20, was found early Friday afternoon, Dec.5, 1997, in a car wash at Fayette, where he had died from carbon monoxide poisoning.
He was born Apiil 27, 1977, in Independence, the son of Michael Edward and Cindy Sue (Barton) Adams. Chris had done carpentry and handyman work in the Oelwein area for several years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Ducks Unlimited.
Survivors include his parents, Mike and Cindy Adams, of Oelwein; one brother, Michael, at home; two sisters, Kimberly and Kelly, both at home; grandparents, Mary Adams of Oelwein, Bonnie and Wayne Simkins of Parkersburg, and Robert and Jane Barton of Pennsylvania; great-grandmother, Opal Barton of Parson, W. Va. a nephew, Mason Adams; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and a special friend Jody Rubner of Maynard.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Kenneth Adams.
A memorial fund has been established.
