WEST UNION - Funeral services for Lucille Swale will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, in the United Methodist Church,West Union. Burial Will be in the West Union Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Monday at the Burnham-Wood Funeral Home in West Union.
Mrs. Swale, 90, died Monday, Sept. 29, 1997, in the Masonic Home in Minneapolis, Minn.
She was born Oct. 24, 1906 in New Hampton, the daughter of Melvin and Pearl Bacon Shepard. She graduated from West Union High School in 1924 and then from Upper, Iowa University at Fayette. On Dec. 4, 1928, she married Charles Swale in West Union. Mrs. Swale had worked in the Fayette County Courthouse and was a seamstress.
Survivors include two sons, Roland of Fairborn, Ohio, and Richard of Minneapolis; one daughter, Charlan Freundl of Apple Valley, Minn.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one daughter-in-law, Marie Swale of West Union.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles, Jan. 6, 1977; one son, Robert; and a great-granddaughter, Wendy Swale.
