WEST UNION - Funeral services for Mabel Homewood will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, at United Methodist Church, West Union, with burial in the West Union Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Monday at the Burnham-Wood Funeral Home, West Union. Mrs. Homewood, 76 died Friday night, Sept. 19,1997 in the Good Samaritan Home, West Union, after a short illness.
She was born Aug. 22, 1921, in Chapin, the daughter of Klaus and Peterka Henrichs Smid.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra (Harold) Schneider of Winthrop, and' Mary (William) Aldrich of Brookfield, Mo.,seven gfandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Amy Stohr of Oelwein, and Lois Tubbs of Alpha; and two brothers, Willis Smid of Willmington, Ill., and Robert Smid of West Union .
She was preceded indeath by her parents; two husbands, John Banks in 1972, and Tom Homewood in 1992; one brother; one son; and a great grandchild.
