Oelwein-Funeral services for Violet Baumgartner will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan 28, at Zion Lutheran Church, Oelwein, with the Rev. Alan Wolkenhauer officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein. Friends may call from 3 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, at Hintz-Geilenfeld Funeral Home, Oelwein. Mrs. Baumgartner, 96, died of natural causes Saturday, Jan 24, 1998, at Grandview HealthCare Center, Oelwein. She was born March 17, 1901, in Elkader, the daughter of Conrad and Alma (Hagensick) Samp. She married Fred C. Baumgartner on May 22, 1918,in Emanuel Lutheran Church, Strawberry Point. Mrs. Baumgartner was a homemaker and member of Zion Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid. Survivors include two sons, Donald F. (Dixie) and Wayne C., both of Oelwein; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Eva Hansen of Chicago, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred, Now. 11,1956;and two sisters, Carrie and Amanda. A memorial fund has been established. Oelwein Daily Register; 1998
