Funeral services for Nancy DeAnn Nelson were held Sunday, July 2, 2006, at 7:00 p.m. in the Schutte Funeral Chapel at Clermont, Iowa. The Reverend Dwight Albers officiated. Casket Bearers were: Randy Olson, Steve Woods, Dave Aanes, Chuck Thorson, Dave Schneider, Joel Berg. Burial was in the East Clermont Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Clermont, Iowa. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements.

Nancy DeAnn Nelson was born February 17, 1938, in Prairie City, Iowa, to John and Rhea (Myers) Williams. She passed away Friday, June 30, 2006 in the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin, at the age of 68 years, 4 months, and 13 days.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Prairie City Methodist Church. Nancy received her education in the Prairie City schools, graduating in 1956. She worked in Des Moines until she was married. She was employed by The Equitable Life Insurance Company of Iowa and later, as a dental assistant and receptionist for Dr. James E. North.

On June 12, 1965 Nancy was married to Robert Leo Nelson at the Prairie City Methodist Church. To this union two children were born, Mary Helen Nelson and John William Nelson. The family farmed on the Nelson family farm.

Nancy transferred to the West Clermont Lutheran Church in 1965, and then to the East Clermont Lutheran Church in 1980.

Nancy spent a great deal of her time making quilts that were presented to veterans, mainly in the Oelwein and Fayette County areas.

Surviving are her children, Mary (Jeff) Grosdidier, D.V.M., of Ethan, SD and John (Emily) Nelson, of Clermont, IA, 7 grandchildren, Justin, Jordon, Jesse, Jayden, and Jenna Grosdidier, and Robert and Victoria Nelson; a sister, Donna Elizabeth Mann, Des Moines, IA, a niece, Diane (Gary) Hitzfeld, of Florida, and a nephew, Donavan Groe of Des Moines, Iowa. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert, who died in 1982.
