ESTHERVILLE - Mass of Christian Burial for Gordon Duitsman, 73, of Estherville will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Estherville with Monsignor Michael Sernett as Celebrant Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Vigil at 8 p.m. Interment will be at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Estherville with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91 of Estherville.

He died Sunday, May 6, 2012, at his home in Estherville.

Gordon G. Duitsman, the son of Hillis and Dorothy (Holtorf) Duitsman, was born Feb. 19, 1939, in rural Calhoun County.

He graduated from Armstrong High School and later attended Webster City Community College, Iowa Lakes Community College and Mankato State University.

On Aug. 5, 1967, he was united in marriage to Mary Hill in Rock Rapids.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Estherville and the American Legion. Gordon served his country in the United States Army, Medical Corp. He was employed in the agri-business and construction industry.

Left to cherish Gordon's memory is his wife, Mary, of Estherville; sons Roger, John and wife, Julie, Robert and wife, Elizabeth, and Patrick and wife, Shannon; four grandchildren, Emelia, Damien, Rylie and Sean; brothers and sisters, Kenneth Duitsman and wife, Marlene, Richard Duitsman, Bill Duitsman, Ray Duitsman, Jeanne Gettler and husband, Ken, Delores Anderson, Helen Rose, Violet Kliegel and husband, Paul, and Carol Janssen and husband, Larry.

He has been preceded by his parents; three brothers, Fred, LeRoy and Don and sister, Iris McConnell. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 7, 2012)
