Schlotfeldt Dies at 59 After Attack
Harold Schlotfeldt, 59, died Sunday [January 16, 1966] at 7:15 a.m. at Holy Family Hospital, where he had been taken shortly before by ambulance after suffering a heart attack at his home.

Mr. Schlotfeldt had worked for the past 28 years for Tobin Packing Co. and at the time of his death, John Morrell and Co. He received a watch from the Morrell safer 25 years of service.

Harold Joseph Schlotfeldt was born March 29, 1906, at West Des Moines, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Schlotfeldt. He attended school in Exira County and lived there until 1938 when he moved to Estherville.

He was married Nov. 26, 1938 to Betty June Harmon at the Estherville Methodist Church parsonage.

Mr. Schlotfeldt is survived by his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Diana) Van Eman of Spencer, Mrs. Delmar (Bonnie) Phillips of Spirit Lake and Mrs. Ronald (Karen) Weir of Estherville; three grandchildren; two brothers, Carl of Estherville and Earl of Sunnyvale, Calif.

He was preceded in death by one grandchild and his parents.

Family services are to be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Reese Funeral Home, and church services will follow at 2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, Rev. James Brown of Spirit Lake and Rev. Denzil Neumann officiating. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery.

Friends may call Tuesday at the funeral home after 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Wednesday when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state. The casket will not be opened after the service. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 17, 1966)
