Death Takes Thomas Juhl at Age 85
Thomas Juhl, 85, retired farmer, died today about 8:30 a.m. at Holy Family Hospital. His death was attributed to complications of advanced age.

Mr. Juhl was a farmer in the Estherville area until 1938 when he moved to Estherville. For the next 15 years he was caretaker at the East Side Cemetery.

Thomas Juhl was born March 22, 1882, in Keokuk County, the son of Gregres [Greger] and Anna Juhl. He moved with his parents and family to Emmet County when he was six years old, and received his education in the rural schools of Emmet County.

He was married March 6, 1906, to Bertha Reimer, at the home of her parents in Huntington.

After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Juhl farmed until they retired and moved into Estherville. Mrs. Juhl died Oct. 5, 1955.

Mr. Juhl was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Estherville, for 65 years.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Floyd (Gladys) McDonough and Mrs. Vivian Goodwin, both of Estherville; five grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

The last of his family, he was predeceased by his wife; one son, Elmer; one grandson, Daryl Goodwin; his parents; his twin sister; and five brothers.

Funeral services will be Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church, where a 1:30 pm. Family service will precede the 2 p.m. service. Rev. H. Allen Wirtz will officiate.

Friends may call at Fuhrman Funeral Home from 1 p.m. Friday until noon Saturday when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of services. (Estherville, IA, October 12, 1967)
