Earl L. Barfoot, 72, Succumbs Early Today
Earl Luverne Barfoot, 72, Estherville, died at 5 a.m. today, Feb. 16, 1972, at Holy Family Hospital of heart failure.

Memorial services are pending with Reese-Henry Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. His body was donated to the University of Iowa Medical Center for scientific purposes.

Barfoot was born Sept. 3, 1899, at Seneca, Kossuth County, to John and Mary Ann Barfoot. After receiving his education at Dolliver, he was married to Beatrice Palmer on Aug. 22, 1922, in Chicago, Ill. They lived in Chicago, Mason City and Estherville, where he was employed at John Morrell and Co. until his retirement in 1964.

Barfoot was a baptized Methodist and a member of the V.F.W. and a 15 year member of A.M.O.R.C.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice; four sons, Paul of Park Forest, Ill., Robert of Estherville, Marvin of Riverside, Calif., Donald of Estherville; five daughters, Mrs. D. L. (Norraine) Tusler, Montgomery, Ala., Mrs. Rosemary Sampson, Estherville, Mrs. Donna Van Valkenburg, Denver, Colo., Mrs. Norman (Mary Ann) Rusmussen, Ringsted, and Mrs. Carol Moffitt, Estherville; 35 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Edith Kennedy, Tonca, Neb.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, two sisters and his parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 16, 1972)
