Mrs. Swanson Dies Yesterday at Swea City
Swea City – Mrs. Otto Swanson, 70, died early Wednesday morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Nelson Bardo, near Estherville. Mrs. Swanson had been in failing health for some time. She was born Feb. 5, 1888, at Smaland, Sweden. Her maiden name was Josephine Warner.

Her father died in Sweden and she came to this country with her mother and brother when she was 18 years old. The family lived about two years at Jamestown, N.Y. She was married to Otto Swanson and about 50 years ago came to Iowa, living for a time a Laurens, then moved to Ellsworth, Minn. In 1932 they came to Armstrong and since 1940 have been living in Swea City. Mr. Swanson worked on the railroad all his life until he died in 1950.

Surviving children are Mrs. Harry Johnson, Jamestown, N.Y., Mrs. Alvin Nolte, Ellsworth, Minn., Mrs. Nelson Bardo and Ivan Swanson, Estherville, Mrs. Harvey Peterson, Ringste, Elmer and Mrs. Don Swanson, of Swea City. A brother of Jamestown, N.Y., also survives.

There are 19 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. (Kossuth County Advance, Algona, IA, February 20, 1958)
