Armstrong Man is Casualty

Pfc. Curtis E. Tweedt, 23, Is Killed In Invasion of France, June 15; In Glider Infantry

Pfc. Curtis E. Tweedt, 23, of Armstrong was killed in France, June 15, according to a war department telegram received Monday, by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S.K. Tweedt of Armstrong.

Pfc. Tweedt was with the glider infantry and had been in the Army 15 months, seven and a half of which had been spent in overseas duty. He entered the army March 12, 1943, and was sent to Camp Roberts, Calif., where he received his basic training, after which he was sent to Fort Bragg, N.C., for more training. He was then sent to England and from there to France. The last letter received by his parents was dated June 14.

Private Tweedt was graduated from the Armstrong consolidated school and was engaged in farm work at the time of induction.

He is survived by his two-year old daughter, Karen Jean, his parents, three sisters and one brother. His wife, Ardys Opsal Tweedt, preceded him in death on August 4, 1942.

A memorial service is being planned by Armstrong friends.
