Rites To Be Monday for Nels Holm
Last rites for Nels Holm, who died of a heart attack Wednesday night [July 25, 1962] are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at the Estherville Lutheran Church here. He was the brother of Olaf Holm of Estherville and Thorvald Holm of Norway.
Mr. Holm, 73, had been in failing health for the past seven years and was hospitalized last Saturday after suffering a heart attack.
Born in Stavanger, Norway, he came to the United States at the age of 14 to work on a farm in the northern part of the county. He was later employed by the Rock Island Railroad until his retirement in 1953. He also did carpentry work and dealt in real estate.
He was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church here.
His two brothers, Olaf and Thorvald, along with five half-brothers in Norway, are the only survivors.
The Rev. A. Mathre will conduct the funeral service. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. [Note: Nels Holm is buried in Estherville Lutheran Cemetery.]
Friends may call at the Sternborg-Reese Funeral Home from 6 p.m. Saturday until 11 a.m. Monday when the casket will be taken to the church.
