MANKATO - Mankato music teacher Nada Horswell, 82, died Monday, Jan. 5, 1998, at Oaklawn Health Care Center.
Services are 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Landkamer Johnson-Boman Funeral Home, the Rev. Richard Schriber officiating. Burial is in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and continues one hour before services at the funeral home.
Mrs. Horswell was born June 8 1915, to Niels and Kathryn (Knudson) Jorgenson in Halfa Prairie, Iowa. She moved with her family to Ringsted, Iowa where she graduated from high school. She married Harold H. Horswell July 6, 1935, in Fairmont and they lived in Armstrong until 1970 when they moved to Mankato. She taught organ and piano lessons at the Kraft Music Store in Estherville, Iowa and continued to give lessons from her home in Mankato. She was a member of the Horswell Band which played throughout southern Minnesota and Iowa. A former active member of the Armstrong United Methodist Church, she enjoyed music and her family.
She is survived by three sons, Stan of Dunnell, David and his wife Judy of Woodbridge, Va., and Dan and his wife Norma of Cleveland, Ohio; two daughters and their husbands, Rhea J. and Rene "Fritz" Maes of Mankato and Ruth and Dave Hall of Tucson, Ariz.; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Gusta Madsen of Okoboji, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother and two grandchildren.
