IN MEMORIAM

Salina, wife of C. I. Hinman, of Estherville, Iowa died on the morning of January 23d, 1884, in the 34th year of her age.

It is with sadness that we chronicle the demise of one so universally esteemed and in the prime of womanhood. Her sickness was of short duration, but for several days it was feared she would not recover. During her sickness she uttered no words of complaint and when the final summons came, with scarcely a struggle the wheels of life stopped and the weary spirit was wafted across the dark river.

A large concourse of people assembled at the Baptist church on Thursday at 2 p.m. to attend the funeral services, which were conducted by Rev. J. C. Eckles in a very impressive manner.

Salina Hinman nee Salina Anderson, was born in Sweden, Oct. 16th, 1850 and with her parents removed when a small child to Keokuk, Iowa, where she resided until the years of maturity. She and her husband were united in marriage by Judge Chase, of Webster City on Nov. 20th, 1872; shortly after the marriage they removed to Carroll county, Iowa where she [he?] engaged in teaching--having charge of the Glidden schools, at which place they resided until she came with her husband to this place in August 1882.

She leaves to mourn her irreparable loss a fond husband and three small children; Roy, aged seven, Gertie, aged five, and a babe about two weeks old.

Deceased was an exemplary wife, an indulgent mother and a kind neighbor. Her circle of acquaintances was not extensive because of her devotion to her family. To those who were nearest and dearest to her and of those with whom she became acquainted, these loved her best who knew her best.

[Mrs. Hinman is buried in East Side Cemetery.]
