Passes Away Suddenly
Funeral Services Held Monday Afternoon at Wallingford Lutheran Church

Funeral services for Albert H. Gunderson, who died suddenly at his home Thursday night [17 May 1935] were held at the Lutheran church in Wallingford Monday afternoon with the Rev. Peder Nordsletten officiating. Short services were also held at the home at 1 o'clock. Burial was in Wallingford Lutheran Cemetery.

Being held in high esteem by all who knew him, an exceptionally large audience attended the service. There were many who could not even get into the church for the service. The tributes of flowers were many and likewise very beautiful. To various missions and worthy causes were given $29.60 in memory of the departed from relatives, neighbors and friends. Rev. Peder Nordsletten was ably assisted in the service by Rev. G. Paulsrud, of Randall; he officiated at the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Gunderson some over 26 years ago. Rev. T. Hanson, the former pastor, spoke also. At the brief service at the home Mr. S. O. Lundy sang two solos accompanied by guitar. the Wallingford choir sang two songs at the church and likewise at the burial, which was held at the cemetery close by.

Those who served as the pall bearers were the following: Sam Natterstad, Elmer Ellefson, Nels Michelson, Chester Anderson, Jake Jacobson and Carl Groth.

Albert Herman Gunderson was born in Estherville May 17, 1884, the son of Lewis and Julia Gunderson. For the past 31 years he has been engaged in farming and was living in Twelve Mile Lake township at the time of his death.

Mr. Gunderson was able to do his farm work all day Thursday although he complained of not feeling well. He passed away about 8 o'clock in the evening, after a heart attack.

His departure is keenly felt by his sisters and brothers, Lena, George, Jeanette, now Mrs. Lewis Rustad, and Ida, now Mrs. Fred Wolden. These reside in and near Wallingford, and Henry of Granite Falls, Minn.
