Funeral services were held for Arnold C. Olson on Wednesday, October 3, 2007, at the Wallingford Lutheran Church at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Tedd Rieke officiated. Interment was at the Wallingford Lutheran Cemetery. Military Graveside Rites were conducted by the Wallingford Norris Kasa American Legion Post.

Arnold C. [Clair] Olson, the son of Clarence and Clara (Johnson) Olson, was born September 20, 1928, in Emmet County, Iowa. He departed this life on Monday, October 1, 2007, at his home in rural Wallingford, Iowa, at the age of 79 years.

Arnold received his elementary education in a rural school in Emmet County and graduated from Estherville High School. In 1950, he joined the United States Air Force, where he served for four years, two of them in Bordeaux, France.

On August 19, 1961, Arnold was united in marriage to Jean Pfeifer in Estherville. The couple made their home and raised their family in the Ingham–High Lake area east of Wallingford, Iowa, where he was born and raised. Arnold has been a life-long farmer and livestock producer in Emmet County and has been involved with John Deere implement companies in Estherville, Doon and Ireton.

Arnold was a life-long member of the Wallingford Lutheran Church, serving in many areas of the church. He was an active member of the Norris Kasa Legion Post in Wallingford, serving for many years as the Adjutant. He was active in school and community service for years. He enjoyed woodworking and made many household items for the family.

Grateful for having shared Arnold’s life and left to cherish memory are: two daughters, Lynntte Goodman and her husband, Jeffrey of Storm Lake, Iowa; Stephanie Kind and her husband, Matthew of Champlin, Minnesota; three sons, Lee Olson of Des Moines, Iowa; Scott Olson and his wife, Alicia of Wallingford; Mark Olson and his wife, Teresa of Wallingford; six grandchildren, Nicole and Alex Goodman; Sabreanna Olson; Brady and Tyson Olson; Elizabeth Kind; sister, Joyce Borchers and her husband, Romaine of Wallingford; several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Arnold in death were his wife, Jean and his parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 10, 2007)
