Lorenzo Lough Passes Away in Boston, Mass.
Lorenzo Lough, 65, Whittier, Cal., former Estherville resident and brother of Arlando Lough of this city, died yesterday in Boston, Mass., where he has been since late in May. The cause of death was not known.

Mrs. Lough was with him and will arrive today with the body Monday for the funeral arrangements for which have not been made.

Mr. Lough, a Rock Island employe here for many years, is survived by two sisters, Miss Martha Lough of Estherville and Mrs. I.J. Overholt of Klemme, Iowa; two sons, Harold, Eagle Rock, Cal., and Emerald, Long Beach, Cal., and a daughter, Mrs. Ed Libbee, the former Miss Frances Lough, of California, besides his widow and the brother here. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 25, 1938)

Brought Here For Burial
Funeral services for Lorenzo Lough will be held tomorrow afternoon at the Gail Morse home. Mr. Lough, 65, of Whittier, Calif., is a former Estherville resident and a brother of Arlando Lough of this city. He died after a heart attack Friday in Boston, Mass., where he had been residing since last May.

Mrs. Lough arrived here with the body yesterday and completed the funeral arrangements.

Mr. Lough, for many years a Rock Island employee is survived by his widow, two sons, Harold of Eagle Rock, Cal., and Emerald, Long Beach, Cal., a daughter, Mrs. Ed Lubbee of California, two sisters, Miss Martha Lough of Estherville and Mrs. I.J. Overholt of Klemme, Iowa, and his brother, Arlando Lough of Estherville. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

The Masonic burial services will be given at the grave in Oak Hill cemetery.

Pall bearers are men who have been associated with Mr. Lough as Rock Island engineers, Ed Cole, Chas. Keeler, B.F. Kerner, J.G. Wilson, Wilbur Hemphill. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, June 28, 1938)

Lorenzo Lough, A Pioneer Railway Man, Buried Here
Lorenzo Lough, 65, a life long resident of Estherville with the exception of the past two years, passed away Friday in Boston, Mass., where he had been for treatment for heart trouble, which finally caused his death.

Mr. Lough commenced railroading when a youth and at the time of his retirement from duty was one of the Rock Island’s trusted and efficient engineers.

Mr. and Mrs. Lough occupied a beautiful home in Estherville on the west side, west of the swimming pool. This they sold, and moved to Whittier, Calif., two years ago.

Mr. Lough was in poor health when they left here and last May they decided to go to Boston for treatment, both being ardent and active members of the Christian Science faith.

Mr. Lough was an excellent neighbor and fine citizen. He attended to his duties on the railroad and made it his life’s business. He was beloved by the men who worked with him and all trusted and respected him as a man and a gentleman.

The remains were brought to Estherville for burial and funeral services were held from the G.H. Morse home Wednesday afternoon. Interment was in Oak Hill cemetery.

He leaves to mourn his death his beloved and faithful wife, two sons, Harold of Eagle Rock, Calif., Emerald of Long Beach, Calif., a daughter, Mrs. Ed. Libbee of Whittier, Calif., two sisters and one brother.

The Masonic burial services were used at the cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, June 30, 1938)
