Obituary of Mrs. William Lush (From the Laramie County News, Burns, Wyoming)
Lydia Ann Weise, daughter of John and Emmaline Weise, was born at Princeton, Illinois, August 20, 1850, and passed away at her home north of Burns, Wyoming, March 7, 1928, after an illness of five weeks, being at the time of her death 77 years, 6 months and 17 days.She was one of a family of seven children. On April 9, 1872, she was united in marriage with William Lush at Wyanet, Illinois. Eight children were born to this union, Robert of Willmar, Minnesota; Mrs. Frances Schmalz, of Kimball, South Dakota; Eugene, who died at the age of seven months, George who died at the age of twenty years, and Jacob, who died at the age of five years; Charles, of Earlham, Iowa; John of Burns, Wyoming and Mrs. Kate Liggett, also of Burns.
She and her husband united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Stuart, Iowa, in 1884, and she was a member of the Stuart Church at the time of her death.
The family moved from Illinois to their farm near Stuart, Iowa,, in 1881 where they lived until 1894 when they moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In 1889 they moved to Estherville, Iowa, and in 1906 they returned to Stuart.
The husband passed away August 27, 1912, and in 1916 she came to Burns to be with her children and made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Clarence Liggett.
She had been an invalid a great deal of the time for nearly thirty years but was always a patient sufferer.
She leaves to mourn her loss five children, twenty-three grandchildren and three great grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Hornby, of Des Moines, Iowa, and Mrs. Lena Neff, also of Des Moines.
Services were held at the Presbyterian Church in Burns at one p.m. Friday. Rev. Guy E. Konkel, of Cheyenne, conducted the services assisted by Rev. Earle Hair of Burns.
The body was laid to rest in Lakeview Cemetery at Cheyenne.
Pallbearers were George Snyder, Lew Mason, A.H. Davis, Geo. Neahouse, J.A. Romsa and Paul Ray. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, March 21, 1928)
