Edwin Jacob Lausen
Edwin Jacob Lausen, who died Aug. 17 was born March 28, 1897, in Emmet county, the son of Mr. and Mrs. D.P. Lausen. As a youth he served in World War I. On June 10, 1920, he was united in marriage to Louise Guge. They had five children.

Following the trade of mechanic, Lausen was employed in Estherville, Marshalltown and Superior. In 1933 he resumed farming and moved to the farm home where he was born and where he was residing at the time of his death. Since June of this year he had been in poor health. He died at the age of 47 years, four months and 20 days.

He is survived by his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Earl Browne of Mount Pleasant and Caroline Mae; three sons, Harold, Ralph and Dennis; his father, D.P. Lausen of Estherville; a brother, Fred Lausen of Bakersfield, Calif., and one granddaughter, Linda Louise Browne.

Funeral services were held Aug. 21, at the Gospel Mission with Pastor L.F. Guge in charge. Burial was delayed until Aug. 22, pending the arrival of Fred Lausen from California. Interment was made in the Oakhill cemetery.

Pall bearers were Ed Kirchner, John Lamack, Paul Hyer, Sophus Rasmussen, Dewey Hockings and Leonard Pluth. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 28, 1944)
