Kaneohe, Hawaii – Cecil Lurah Wittern, 90, of Kaneohe, Hawaii died Tuesday, March 25, 1907 at Kaneohe. She was formerly of Estherville and later St. Paul, Minn. Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 5, 1997 at 1:30 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery, Estherville with the Rev. Brian Perry officiating.Visitation will be held from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.
A funeral service was held at Kaneohe on Tuesday at the Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary.
She was born on May 4, 1906 in Davenport, the daughter of John R. and Eva (Smith) Mapes. She was united in marriage to Ordel Wittern. After their marriage, the couple made their home in Estherville for a number of years. They then lived in Washington, D.C. and several cities in the Midwest until 1977. She spent part of the year in Hawaii with her daughter and part of the year with her son in St. Paul, Minn.
Survivors include a son, Jack Wittern of Milford; daughter, Shirley Batey, five grandchildren; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 2, 1997)
