Obituary
Henry E. [Eelen] Moe was born in Green county, Wisconsin, November 26, 1882, at which place he resided until about seven years ago when he came with his father to Armstrong, at which place he has spent most of his time since. He died at the residence of Wm. Gray in this city at 7:30 Sunday morning, August 7, 1904. The age of deceased at the time of his death was 21 years, 8 months, and 12 days. He leaves a father, sister, and brother to mourn his early and untimely death; his mother having preceded him to her eternal home some thirteen years ago.

Since he grew to manhood, Henry has spent much of his time clerking in stores of Armstrong. He has been employed by Shraiberg Bros., Olson Bros., and Wenham department store, and at all these places he proved himself a gentlemanly and efficient salesman, enjoying the confidence and respect of his employers. All who had the privilege of his acquaintance felt him to be a young man of honesty of purpose. About thirteen months ago he went to Colorado in hopes of benefitting his already failing health; remaining there about two months, although greatly improved he felt himself persuaded by the strong ties of home and friends to return to Armstrong, which he did. Since that time however, he has been gradually failing and has suffered greatly from the terrible disease, consumption, by which he was finally overcome.

In his death the community loses a young man of promise and character, who will be greatly missed by his many friends here. The funeral was held from the Presbyterian church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, the sermon being preached by Rev. T.A. Ambler. A large audience gathered to pay their last respects for the deceased. Interment took place in Armstrong cemetery. The Republican extends its sympathy to the sorrowing father, sister and brother. – Armstrong Republican (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, August 17, 1904)

Note: his brother Samuel Moe, died and was buried in Bakersfield, CA. Per CA death records, mother’s maiden name was Emerson
