Mrs. E. H. Pettis of Halfa, Dies of Pneumonia
Halfa, Feb. 13 Mrs. Vera Mae Pettis, 24 years old, passed away at her home Wednesday [February 13, 1935] afternoon following an illness of ten days of pneumonia. She is survived by her husband, E.H. Pettis and three small children, six, four and –years of age, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mitchell of Armstrong, and two sisters and seven brothers. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Halfa church and burial made in the Armstrong cemetery. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, February 14, 1935)
