Estherville – Services for Lloyd Omer Mitchell, 86, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel with Pastor Paul Wiegman of the Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. He died Monday, June 22, 1987 at Holy Family Hospital.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Wednesday.

He was born Nov. 26, 1900 in Union Township, Hardin County, the son of John W. and Ida (Burgess) Mitchell. He attended rural Hardin Co. schools. On Sept. 2, 1943 he was united in marriage with Betty Gillett at Jackson, Minn. The couple lived in Sherburn, Minn. and he worked for the Maltzen Trucking Co. They later moved to Armstrong where he worked for the railroad and City of Armstrong. Mitchell retired in1963 and the couple moved to Estherville. He attended the Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Betty, Estherville; sons Floyd, Panama City, Fla. and Ronnie, Estherville; a daughter, Bonnie Dale, Estherville; nine grandchildren; one step-son Leo; three sisters, Carmey Conn and Polly Marker, Sherburn, and Loretta Eckholm, Armstrong.

He was preceded in death by one grandson; one great-grandson; parents; three brothers and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 24, 1987)
