William Mitchell
Armstrong – Services for William B. [Bertrum] Mitchell, 86, will be held Thursday, 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Armstrong, with the Rev. David Wagner officiating. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery. He died Monday, May 27, 1985 at Fairmont Community Hospital, Fairmont, Minn.

Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home in Armstrong after 3 p.m. Wednesday.

He was born Oct. 11, 1898 at Tipton, the son of John and Mary (Williams) Mitchell. He received his education in the Tipton and Armstrong Schools. On July 1, 1919 he was united in marriage with Lena Kinnander at the Estherville Presbyterian Church. He coached and managed numerous baseball teams in the Dolliver and Armstrong area through the years. The couple farmed northwest of Armstrong until 1967 when they retired and moved into Armstrong where they have lived since. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Elks Club and Odd Fellows Lodge.

Survivors include his wife Lena, Armstrong; two sons: Harold Mitchel and his wife Marge, Goshen, Ind., Robert Mitchell and his wife Blanche, Grapevine, Tex.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles and Paul. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 29, 1985)
