Final Rites For Miller On Saturday
Armstrong – Funeral services for Jack Miller, 77, former Armstrong farmer and hog buyer, who died Wednesday morning at a nursing home in Hastings, Minn., are to be Saturday.

A family service at 1:30 p.m. in the Presbyterian Church parlors will precede a 2 p.m. service in the church sanctuary. Rev. Ellis K. Gasser officiating. Burial will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Slaba-Reese Funeral Home from Friday morning until Saturday at 1 p.m. when the body will be taken to the church, where persons may call until time of the service.

Mr. Miller had been in failing health for the past two years. His death was attributed to complications of advanced age.

Jack Miller was born July 8, 1888 at Reinbeck. He received his education there. He was married in 1920 to Gladys Laffey, and the couple farmed near Armstrong for many years. Mrs. Laffey died in 1935.

Mr. Miller is survived by two sons, Robert Miller of St. Paul and Jackie Miller of Minneapolis; a daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Donna) Meredith of Honolulu, Hawaii; and two sisters, Mrs. William Orr of Waterloo and Mrs. Jessie Knaupp of Independence, Ore.

He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 21, 1965)
