Estherville – Services for Mr. Dick Mein, 71, of Estherville, will be held Tuesday February 3, at 1:30 p.m. at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel with Pastor Robert Kobler officiating. Interment will be at Armstrong Grove Cemetery with a flag presentation by the VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91. He died Saturday, January 31, 1998 at Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday in the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel in Estherville.
He was born at Kanawha, [March 26, 1926] the son of Henry and Kepka [Gepke] (Bunk) Mein. He began his education in Kanawha. The family then moved to the Armstrong area in 1936 and he completed his education in the Iowa Lake Township #4 School in rural Armstrong, Iowa. He served with the United States Army in Germany. He has farmed in Emmet County until ill health forced his retirement in 1996. He has been a resident at Good Samaritan Center in Estherville since December 2, 1997.
He is survived by two sisters: Ella Mein of Armstrong and Tillie Gustafson of Ledyard and three brothers: Abbo Mein of Swea City, George Mein of Estherville and Lucas Mein of Gruver.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 2, 1998)
