Armstrong – Services for Mrs. Mack (Gertrude) Mckean, 73, Armstrong, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Nazareth Lutheran Church, Armstrong, with the Rev. Don Sarff officiating. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. McKean died Monday [August 20, 1979] evening at Holy Family Hospital, Estherville.

Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Armstrong, until noon Thursday and at the church prior to services.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ryer Halverson, she was born Feb. 13, 1906, at Graettinger. She received her education in Graettinger schools, graduating with the class of 1924, attended Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, and the University of Colorado, Boulder.

She taught school for one year at Gowrie, three years at Ruthven and 10 years at Arnolds Park.

She was married to Mack McKean on April 25, 1942, at Maryville, Mo., and the couple have made their home in the Armstrong community. She was a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church, Armstrong.

Mrs. McKean is survived by her husband, Mack McKean, Armstrong; one son, Richard McKean, Armstrong; two grandchildren; and four sisters, Esther Simingsen and Mrs. Elva Paulson, both of Graettinger, Mrs. Lillian Lufkin, Okoboji, and Mrs. Myrtle Warner, Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and three brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 22, 1979)
