Armstrong – Services for Mack [Allen] McKean, 79, will be held Saturday, 2 p.m. in the Nazareth Lutheran Church with Pastor Don Sarff officiating. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery. He died Thursday morning, Nov. 4, at Holy Family Hospital.Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home in Armstrong after 3 p.m. Friday.
McKean was born Dec. 20, 1902 on a farm near Armstrong where he lived his entire life. His parents were James G. and Hester [Shaw] McKean. He attended Swan Lake Schools. On April 25, 1942 he was married to Gertrude (Hallie) Halverson at Maryville, MO. He was a long time trustee and served on the Swan Lake Consolidated School board also Armstrong Consolidated School board; he was a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church, a member of the Emmet County Historical Society and Emmet County Farm Bureau.
Survivors include one son Richard and daughter-in-law Phyllis McKean, Armstrong; three granddaughters, Angela, Maria and Megan, Armstrong; two brothers, Ray and Ed McKean, Estherville; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Jespersen, Estherville and Mrs. Esther Ayers, Bradenton Beach, Fla.; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and three brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 4, 1982)
