Armstrong Woman Dies; Services Set Wednesday
Armstrong – Mrs. Letha Virl Harris, 73, died Sunday evening, Aug. 11, at the Valley View Nursing Home in Armstrong.Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at the United Methodist Church in Armstrong. The Rev. Travis Cannaday will officiate. Burial will be at the Armstrong-Groves Cemetery. Friends may call at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home in Armstrong.
She was born Dec. 1, 1900 at Eldora, the daughter of Thomas and Dorothy Luscombe Manley. She came to Armstrong as a young girl and was educated in Armstrong schools.
She married Willis M. Harris Oct. 21, 1920 at Estherville. They farmed in the Armstrong area. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Hartley (Dorothy) Aust; two sons, Harold R. Harris and Robert J. Harris, all of Armstrong; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one brother, George Manley and two sisters, Flossie and Fern Manley, also of Armstrong.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 13, 1974)
