Armstrong Man Dies
Thomas Manley, 81, for many years a farmer in the Armstrong community, died last night at his home in Armstrong. Mr. Manley had been in failing health for some time.

He was born June 26, 1875 at Owasssa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Manley. Mr. Manley was married Oct. 19, 1898 to Dorothy Luscombe at Owassa and the couple farmed in the Owassa and Alden areas until 1902 when they moved to the Armstrong community. They farmed near Armstrong until retiring 13 years ago to move to town.

Survivors include his widow, five children: LaVere, Flossie and Fern all at home; Mrs. W.M. Harris and George Manley, both of Armstrong; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one brother, James Manley of Armstrong, and one sister, Mrs. Sarah Cronk of Iowa Falls.

Three sisters and one brother preceded him in death.

Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the First Methodist Church at Armstrong with the Rev. R. D. Tappmeyer officiating. Burial will be in Armstrong Grove cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 27, 1956)
