Carmen Sue Rovn-Luscombe was born July 23, 1947, in Estherville, Iowa, the only child of Arne and Martha Rovn. She passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at Anschutz Medical Center in Denver, Colorado, at the age of 63.

She was raised in Ringsted, Iowa and graduated from Ringsted High School in 1965. She attended Estherville Junior College immediately following High School and transferred to Mankato State University and graduated in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Music. After finishing college, she taught music at Janesville ISD and Armstrong ISD. She was on the board of directors and co-head of production for the Miss Emmet County Pageant established in 1974.

On October 22, 1978, she married Gene Luscombe and they moved to Sherman, Texas. Carmen was Gene's one true love and his co-pilot in life on land and air. Carmen's greatest passion in life was her family. She lived for her children and grandchildren. Her joy in life was family gatherings so she could cook, love and protect them. She wanted everyone to be together as a family. She wanted them around her all the time.

Carmen also liked to travel across the country attending air shows with her husband and enjoying the finer things in life. Music was always part of Carmen's life whether she was playing clarinet, piano, or singing. She was a very talented and gracious woman.

She is survived by her husband, Gene Luscombe, of Sherman; four children: Jason Godfredsen and wife Darlene of Sherman, Marne Brand and husband Jackie of Sherman, Amy White and husband Jeff of Pottsboro, Texas, and Dena Newell and husband Tim of Aledo, Texas; eight grandchildren: Alana, Ella, and Ava Godfredsen of Sherman, Landen and Kaylee Brand of Sherman, Ashley Thompson of Abilene, Texas, and Halle and Max Newell of Aledo.

Carmen was preceded in death by her parents, Arne and Martha Rovn, father and mother in law, Arthur and Elvina Luscombe, and a granddaughter, Nicole Peterson.

Family visitation for Carmen will also be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman, Texas. You can visit their website at www.dannelfuneralhome.com

Family visitation for Carmen Sue Rovn-Luscombe, 63, who passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2011, in Denver, Colorado, will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman, Texas. Family visitation will also be held at Henry Olsen Fuhrman Funeral Home in Armstrong, Iowa on Friday, April 22, from 5 until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2011, at the Lutheran Church in Ringsted, Iowa at 10:30AM.
