Ceylon, Minn. – Funeral services for Elvina O. Luscombe, 83, of Ceylon, Minn. will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 20 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong with Pastor Jack Peterson and Pastor Paul Rothfusz officiating. Interment will be held at Armstrong Grove Cemetery, Armstrong. She died on Thursday, Oct. 16 at the Bethesda Rehabilitation Hospital in St. Paul, Minn.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong.

Elvina Olida Herbranson, the daughter of Henry and Birdie (Synstelien) Herbranson was born April 1, 1920 near Petersburg, Minnesota.

She received her education in the Petersburg Consolidated Schools graduating from Jackson, Minnesota High School in 1938. Following high school she moved to Estherville and worked at the Woolworth Store.

On August 2, 1942, she was united to Arthur Luscombe in Worthington, Minnesota. After their marriage the couple moved to a farm north of Armstrong. They owned and operated a grocery store in Ceylon, Minnesota for two years and then returned to farming. They then moved to Grantsburg, Wisconsin, where they operated movie theaters. They returned to Ceylon for several years in the grocery business. They then returned to the Luscombe family farm where they have lived since. Elvina was the secretary and treasurer of Arts-Way for many years. She helped the early operation and development of Arts-Way in many ways.

Elvina enjoyed gardening, canning and freezing produce with her husband, Arthur. She also enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling and especially entertaining the Arts-Way twenty-five year employees in Las Vegas every year.

Elvina is survived by her husband, Arthur of Armstrong; two sons, Gene Luscombe and his wife, Carmen of Sherman, Texas; Terry Luscombe and his wife, Donna of Armstrong; grandchildren, Tammy Carevic and her husband, Tommy of Dolliver; Amy Thompson of Pottsboro, Texas; Dena Newell and her husband, Tim of Keller, Texas, Jason Godfredsen and his wife, Darlene of Sherman; Marne Brandt and her husband, Jackie of Sherman; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Juliet Fransdal of Estherville; Helen Martinson of Ashby, Minnesota; Loraine Vorland of Cedar Falls; two brothers, Harold Herbranson and his wife, Carol of White, South Dakota; Elmer Herbranson and his wife, Barbara of Seminole, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were one great-granddaughter; her parents; and infant brother; and three brothers-in-law. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 18, 2003)
