Armstrong – Services for Edna Looft, 90, Armstrong, will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Armstrong with the Rev. W.H. Sinning officiating. Interment to be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery. She died Tuesday morning, July 31, 1984, at the Hilltop Nursing Home at Spirit Lake.Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home at Armstrong after 3 p.m. Thursday, and one hour prior to services at the church Friday.
She was born July 6, 1894 at Bancroft, the daughter of Christian and Martina (Petersen) Godfredsen. She was educated in rural Kossuth County Schools. On Jan. 20, 1921 she was united in marriage with Peter Looft at Burt. The couple moved to Armstrong in 1936. She has been a resident at the Hilltop Nursing Home for the past several years. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Armstrong.
Survivors include three sons: Verle, Spirit Lake, Kenneth, Ceylon, Minn. and Donald, Armstrong; two daughters: Mrs. John (Harriet) VonBank, Sherburn, Minn. and Mrs. Carl (LaVon) Castner, Winnebago, Minn.; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Mrs. Mabel Riddle, Hayfield, Minn., Mrs. Laura Woltz, Burt and Mrs. Mae Dettman, Algona.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; eight brothers; one sister; one daughter and three great-grandchildren. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 2, 1984)
