FAIRMONT, Minn. - Funeral services for Larry Long, 71, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held Thursday, April 15, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. at the Nazareth Lutheran Church with a time of fellowship and luncheon held at noon at the church. Interment will be held in the Grove Cemetery in Armstrong following the service.

He died Monday, April 12, 2010, at the UHD Hospital in Blue Earth, Minn.

Larry Burns Long was born Sept. 27, 1938, to Clarion and Martha (Schipull) Long in Burt. He received his education from Armstrong Public School.

Larry farmed in the Armstrong/Ringsted area for many years. On Sept. 30, 1971, Larry was united in marriage to Mary A. Rezac in Coleman, S.D. Together the couple made their home near Dell Rapids, S.D., where they farmed and raised livestock. Larry and Mary later returned to Armstrong before moving to Fairmont.

Larry enjoyed living life to the fullest. He cherished time spent with friends and family over a cup of coffee. Visiting casinos and attending auctions were a favorite pastime of his as well. His zest for life will be greatly missed by those that loved him and called him friend.

Left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Charlotte Ewing and her husband, Gary, of Estherville, Carol McDonald and husband, Lenny, of Storm Lake, Donna Lane of Wallingford, and Betty Hollund and husband, Richard, of Wells, Minn.; a sister-in-law, Marsha Long; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and a host of friends. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Long; brother, Calvin Long; sister-in-law, Margaret Long; brothers-in-law, John Lane, John Rezac Jr. and Roger Menz; a nephew, Kenny Ewing as well as other family.

The Lakeview Funeral Home of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 14, 2010)
