Mrs. Mary Long Dies at 76
Mrs. Mary Long, 76, Armstrong, died at Holy Family Hospital about 2:55 a.m. Sunday [February 4, 1968] from a series of strokes. She had been in failing health since November.

She was born Jan. 29, 1892, in Dixon, Ill., to Mr. and Mrs. Granville Fike. She was married in 1908 to James R. Long in Illinois.

They farmed near Chilicothe, Ill., until 1918, when they moved to a farm near Ringsted and lived there until 1927 when they moved to a farm near Spencer. In 1935 they moved to Armstrong, where Mr. Long had a shoe repair shop and was also town marshall for a time.
She was a member of the Methodist Church.

She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five sisters and four brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Methodist Church at Armstrong, preceded by a family service at 1:30. Burial will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery. Rev. Raymond Hampton, Estherville Methodist Church, will officiate.

Friends may call at Slaba-Reese Chapel, Armstrong, from noon today until 1 p.m. Tuesday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 5, 1968)
