Martha Long
Armstrong – Services for Martha Long, 78, of Armstrong will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6 at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong with Pastor Paul Rothfusz presiding. Interment will be at the Armstrong Grove Cemetery in Armstrong. She died April 3 at the Fairmont Community Hospital in Fairmont, Iowa [Minn.]

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 5 at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Armstrong.

She was born on September 7, 1914 in Renwick, the daughter of August and Anna (Schwandt) Schipull. She married Clarion Long on February 15, 1937 in Burt. After their marriage, the couple farmed near Burt and Algona before moving to a farm west of Armstrong in 1949 where she has lived since. She has been a resident of the Lutz Wing in Fairmont since 1992. She was a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong, church circle and the S and L Club.

She is survived by two sons: Larry Long, Fairmont, Minn.; and Calvin Long, Estherville; four daughters: Charlotte Ewing, Estherville; Carol McDonald, Storm Lake; Donna Lane, Wallingford; and Betty Hollund, Wells, Minn.

Other survivors include two brothers: Harold Schipull, Luverne; and Henry Schipull, Baron, Wis.; one sister Sophie Bradley, Whittemore; fifteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers, her twin sister, and one son-in-law. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 5, 1993)
