James Robinson, Former Local Man, Is Buried Here
James Robinson, 83, of Cedar Rapids died at his home Dec. 4 after an illness of several years. Mr. Robinson was brought to Estherville, his former home, yesterday for funeral services. Burial was made in the Oakhill cemetery.

Mr. Robinson was born in Richmond, Virginia, Sept. 1, 1864, and was united in marriage to Miss Lucy Ann Miller in Salisbury, Mo., March 3, 1886. She preceded him in death Sept. 19, 1921, in Estherville where the couple made their home for a number of years.

While living in Estherville Mr. Robinson was employed in the Rock Island railroad shops. He had been retired from his work for a number of years.

Twelve children were born to the couple but only five of them survive their father. They are Mrs. Estella [Estellar] Williams of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Olive Scott of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Dorothy Atkinson of Detroit, Claus Robinson of Detroit, and the Rev. Christina McDonald of Cedar Rapids, who read the final commitment yesterday morning.

Mr. Robinson was a deacon of the Second Baptist church in Cedar Rapids for the past 20 years. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 10, 1947)
