Armstrong – Funeral services for Lyle L.Lindell, 68, of rural Ringsted will be held at 10 a.m. today, Aug. 12 at the United Methodist Church in Armstrong with the Rev. Lynn Roesler officiating. Military graveside rites by the Weiby-Johnson VFW Post 5232 will be held at Armstrong Grove Cemetery, Armstrong. He died Thursday at his home.Visitation was held Sunday at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Armstrong.
Lyle Lee Lindell, the son of Iver and Meta (Prust) Lindell, was born February 18, 1934, in rural Emmet County.
He received his education in the country schools and graduated from Armstrong High School.
Lyle served in the United States Army. On June 10, 1956, he was united in marriage to Joy Arlene Place at the United Methodist Church in Armstrong. After their marriage, the couple made their home on a farm north of Ringsted where they were engaged in farming. Joy died Nov. 9, 1988. Lyle enjoyed spending winters in Arizona.
Lyle was a member of the United Methodist Church in Armstrong. He was Swedish and was a past president of the Danish American Fellowship.
Lyle is survived by his son, Tom Lindell and his wife, Janell of Blue Earth, Minn.; daughter, Tyra Tate and her husband, James of Lincoln, Neb.; seven grandchildren, Katrina; Amanda; Courtney; Harley Rose; Erika; Rory and Samantha; five brothers and sisters, Les Lindell of Mesa, Ariz.; Roger Lindell and his wife Marabelle of Armstrong; Jim Lindell of Excelsior, Minn.; Donna Johnson of Longmont, Colo.; and Allen Lindell and his wife, Gloria of Sherburn, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his wife and parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 12, 2002)
