Rites Pending for Harold Horswell, 53
Harold Horsell, 53, Maple Hill, died Wednesday [October 11, 1967] afternoon at his home from a heart attack.

He was born Feb. 9, 1914, at Armstrong to Mr. and Mrs. Garfield Horswell. He received his education in Armstrong, graduating from high school in 1933.

He was married July 6, 1935, to Nada Jogensen, Ringsted. They farmed until 1955 when he began employment with Arts-Way Manufacturing Co., Armstrong.

He was a member of the Armstrong Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Nada, five children: David in the Army; Mrs. Rene (Rhea) Maes, Mankato; Stanley of Dunnell; Mrs. Dave (Ruth) Hall, Spencer; Danny, a student at Morningside College, Sioux City. Also 14 grandchildren, his father, Garfield Horswell, Armstrong and two sisters, Mrs. Keith McKean, Armstrong and Mrs. Herman Blom, Estherville.

Funeral services are pending at Slaba-Reese Funeral Home in Armstrong, awaiting arrival of family members. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 14, 1967)

Memorial services for Harold Horswell, 53, of Maple Hill were conducted Monday afternoon at the First Methodist Church with the Rev. Herman U. Smith officiating. Burial was in Armstrong Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Horswell's death occurred Wednesday, Oct. 11 at his home in Maple Hill. Cause of death was a coronary occlusion.

A son of Mr. and Mrs. Garfield S. Horswell, Harold Harvey Horswell was born February 9, 1914 at Armstrong and had lived his entire life in the Armstrong vicinity. He received his education in the local schools and was a 1933 graduate of Armstrong High School.

He was married to Nada Jorgenson on July 6, 1935 at Ringsted. They farmed until 1955 and since that time Mr. Horswell had been employed with Arts-Way Manufacturing company - one of their first employees.

He was a member of the Armstrong First Methodist Church.

Talented musically, Mr. Horswell, together with his wife and their children formed the Horswell Orchestra and became well-known in a wide area.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, David, an Army lieutenant stationed near Woodbridge, Va., Stanley of Dunnell, Minn., and Dan, a student at Morningside College, Sioux City; two daughters, Mrs. Rene (Rhea) Maes of Mankato, Minn., and Mrs. David (Ruth) Hall of Spencer; 14 grandchildren; his father, G. S. Horswell of Armstrong; and two sisters, Mrs. Keith McKean of Armstrong and Mrs. Herman Blom of Estherville.

He was preceded in death by his mother.
