Former Armstrong Man’s Rites Set
Services for Byrl V. [Victor] Horswell, a former Armstrong resident, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Mr. Horswell died Tuesday night at Luther Memorial Home in Madelia, Minn., where he had been living for the past three months.

Burial will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery at Armstrong.

Friends may call at Olson Funeral Home in Fairmont until time of services Friday.

Mr. Horswell was born Sept. 12, 1897 in Armstrong, graduated from Armstrong High School in 1917 and from Iowa State College in Ames in 1921. He taught school at Armstrong and Anita until turning to farming from 1935 to 1967. Although continuing to farm, he moved to Fairmont in 1954.

Mr. Horswell was a former member of the Emmet County ASCS Board, the Armstrong School Board, a member of the Armstrong Masonic Lodge, Fairmont Kiwanis Club and Fairmont American Legion Post.

He married Gladys Pray, who passed away in 1947. He then married Bernice Laffey Schulz on Dec. 30, 1948.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice; one daughter, Mrs. Richard Stewart, Mankato; one son, Vic, Kenosha, Wis.; one step-son, Jack Schultz, Marshall, Minn.; and six grandchildren. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 17, 1974)
